2. How the extension works

John Mingam Intelligence allows users to voluntarily analyse the web page currently open in their browser.

No page is analysed automatically. Analysis starts only when the user opens the extension and explicitly launches an audit.

The extension does not monitor browsing in the background and does not collect the full history of websites visited.

3. Data processed during an audit

When a user launches an audit, the extension may extract and process information from the active page, including URL, page title, declared language, meta description, canonical URL, headings, visible text content, links, SEO metadata, structured data, author name when available, publication or modification dates when available, main HTML content when enabled by the user, and additional instructions provided by the user.

This data is processed only to produce the audit report requested by the user.

The extension does not intentionally seek to collect personal data. However, an analysed page may contain names, contact details, identifiers or other personal information published on that page. The user remains responsible for the pages they choose to analyse.

4. Use of artificial intelligence services

The user may choose OpenAI, Google Gemini or Anthropic Claude.

When an AI-based audit is launched, the information needed to generate the report is sent directly to the official API of the selected provider. Only one API is used per analysis.

Processing by the selected provider is governed by its own terms, privacy rules and data retention policies. John Mingam does not directly control those providers’ systems, infrastructure or internal policies.

5. API keys

AI features require the user to enter their own API key.

API keys are stored locally in the extension storage using chrome.storage.local. They are not sent to a server operated by John Mingam.

When an analysis is launched, the selected provider’s key is transmitted only to the corresponding official API to authenticate the request.

API keys are not sold, shared with advertisers, used for advertising, used to create a marketing profile or synchronised with a John Mingam account.

The user can modify or delete API keys from the extension settings. Chrome local storage is not a password manager or encrypted vault.

6. Data stored locally

The extension may locally store the selected language, selected AI provider, selected model, analysis settings, user preferences, API keys and interface data needed for operation.

This data is used only to remember the extension configuration and enable its operation. It is not transferred to John Mingam.

7. Data transmitted to John Mingam

The extension does not transmit analysed pages, extracted text, analysed HTML, API keys, generated reports, browsing history or locally stored preferences to a server operated by John Mingam.

The extension communicates only with the APIs required for the feature requested by the user.

8. Chrome permissions used

activeTab temporarily accesses the open page when the user voluntarily launches an audit. This access is limited to the active tab.

scripting runs the local script required to extract active-page information, only after an explicit user action.

storage stores preferences, settings and API keys in the extension’s local storage.

sidePanel displays the extension interface in Chrome’s side panel.

downloads saves a report locally only when the user voluntarily clicks an export function.

Host permissions are used only to communicate with compatible official APIs: OpenAI, Google Gemini and Anthropic Claude.

9. No automatic collection

John Mingam Intelligence does not automatically analyse visited pages, monitor tab changes, collect full browsing history, track users across websites, display advertising, create advertising profiles, sell user data, transfer data to data brokers, collect precise location, collect banking information or collect passwords from visited websites.

10. Report export

Generated reports can be displayed, copied or downloaded locally by the user. A report download happens only after a voluntary user action.

John Mingam does not receive a copy of exported reports. The user is responsible for storing, sharing and deleting reports saved on their device.

11. Data retention

John Mingam does not retain analysed-page data on his servers.

Preferences and API keys stored in chrome.storage.local remain on the user’s Chrome profile until manual deletion, extension reset, browser data deletion or extension uninstall.

Artificial intelligence providers may apply their own retention periods depending on provider, account type, contract and privacy settings.

12. Security

Communications with compatible APIs use HTTPS. The extension limits data use to features requested by the user.

No IT system can guarantee absolute security. Users should protect their device, secure their Chrome profile, avoid sharing API keys, limit permissions attached to their keys, revoke a key if in doubt and avoid analysing confidential pages without authorisation.

13. Third-party data

The user must have the rights or authorisations needed to analyse page content.

The extension must not be used to illegally extract, transmit or process confidential personal data, trade secrets, protected medical information, private financial information, login credentials, private communications or content the user is not authorised to access.

14. Use by minors

The extension is not specifically designed for children and does not intentionally seek to collect data about minors.

When use by a minor is authorised, it must take place under the responsibility of a parent, legal representative or competent organisation.

15. User rights and control

The user remains in control of the extension. They can choose the page to analyse, decide when analysis is launched, select the AI provider, select the model, enable or disable options, delete API keys, delete local data, delete downloaded reports or uninstall the extension.

Because John Mingam does not receive locally stored data, he cannot delete it remotely.

16. Policy changes

This policy may be updated to reflect changes to the extension, added or removed functionality, compatible provider changes, regulatory changes or changes in data processing practices.

The last update date appears at the top of this page. In case of material changes, a new version of the policy will be published on this page.
